With the re-audit, HNU is entitled to hold the compatibility certificate for another three years. As part of this strategic process, needs-based compatibility solutions for HNU are being developed in various fields of action, the implementation of which will be reviewed by berufundfamilie Service GmbH at the end of the audit period.
"Family justice is an integral part of our mission statement. The renewed award recognises our sixteen years of commitment to the compatibility of work and family life or studies and family life at HNU. The nice thing about it is that it is a joint effort. In a participatory approach, employees and students work with berufundfamilie Service GmbH to develop measures and implement them together. One thing I can say is that the story is not over yet," said HNU Vice-President Prof. Dr Julia Kormann with a smile.
Dr Michael Fillié added: ‘The USP of our audit is that it is a development audit. At berufundfamilie Service GmbH, we do not set targets that HNU must achieve; rather, the university groups involved decide for themselves which measures to implement. What I particularly like is that family justice is a top priority at HNU, meaning that the university management is actively working on the issue.’
The next steps
The focus of the action programme to be implemented at HNU by 2027 is on further developing occupational and student health management, promoting professional development in harmony with family/private life, increasing a sense of belonging to the university, establishing a culture of diversity and expanding the range of services offered to families. The re-auditing as a family-friendly university thus makes a valuable contribution to improving the quality of teaching, learning and working at the University of Neu-Ulm.
