Artificial intelligence is changing the rules of the cybercrime game. It makes attacks more precise, harder to recognise and more serious - an existential threat for companies that rely on digital systems. In three keynote speeches, leading cyber security experts showed how companies can counter the growing threat situation, secure their organisation and remain capable of acting in an emergency:
- Benjamin Gnahm, internationally recognised hacker and IT security expert, impressively demonstrated how AI-based attacks are transforming the cyber security landscape.
- Prof Dr Aykan D. Inan, Professor of IT Security and Forensics, shed light on the use of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) to identify security vulnerabilities.
- Amir Hosh, co-founder and CEO of DriveByte GmbH, gave a practical analysis of human vulnerabilities - known as "Layer 8" - and their significance for IT security
The event, which was moderated by Prof Dr Alexander Bartel, provided valuable impetus in the field of cyber security and also underlined the importance of the continuous exchange between science and industry. "A high-calibre event: the presentations have sharpened my understanding of the changing security situation and security strategies," said Carsten Klees from WashTec.
HNU will continue to expand its expertise in this area. President Prof. Dr Uta M. Feser emphasised: "With our commitment to cyber security, we are creating a link between academic knowledge and practical applications in order to provide optimal support for both our students and companies in the region." The appointment of Dr Aykan D. Inan to the professorship for cyber security at HNU is an important step in this direction.
